Below are some of the physical therapy (PT) services we provide. For more in-depth information on our services please contact us or call us today – (843) 793-4466.
Manual Therapy (Hands-On Approach) Emphasized – Each joint in our body has a physiological range of motion, which is normal movement thru a full arc. Joints also have accessory motion or ‘joint play’ that permits the normal arc of motion. Manual therapy is a treatment procedure that requires intensive training to mobilize/manipulate a joint in order to restore this joint play. One-On-One Care – On each day of service at our facility you will receive treatment directly from the same highly trained PT. We spend the necessary time of manual work with you to individually address your problems.
Orthopaedic Evaluation and Rehabilitation – We specialize in the treatment and assessment of all orthopaedic problems. Our specialized and individualized programs permit the patient to return to full activity in a safe and quick way. Joint and Soft Tissue Mobilizations- These modalities are used to increase mobility in restricted areas of musculoskeletal function, reduce pain, and create an efficient functional state, thereby enhancing the body’s capacity to heal. These techniques are then complemented by muscle balancing (stretching and strengthening), neuromuscular re-education, spinal stabilization training, and sport specific training.
Passive Modalities - Acutely, the therapist may focus on decreasing pain with passive modalities. Examples of modalities include:
- Heat/ice packs
- TENS units
- Iontophoresis
- Ultrasound
These modalities will never be the sole or primary component to your treatment unless prescribed by the referring physician.
Sports Performance, Injury Rehabilitation, and Injury Prevention – We have experts who are trained in the treatment of athletes and sports performance. In addition of facility gives us access to resisted equipment, plyometric exercise equipment, an indoor track, an indoor basketball court, and an indoor batting cage. All of these attributes allow us to provide sport specific training and rehabilitation of athletes of all levels.
Fitness Club Facilities – Our clinic is located within a sports club that offers full services and equipment use to our patients. This particular facility allows us to utilize racquetball courts, an indoor track, an indoor basketball court, and batting cages. Establishing an independent gym program is easy when we can utilize all of the necessary apparatus and equipment during your treatments.
Exercise Physiology – The training of the PT includes the theory and application of current exercise physiology principles. Our exercise programs institute these principles on an individual basis and for special needs due to disease processes.
Pre and Post-Surgical Care – Post-surgical care including physical therapy is required by most physicians in order to return to full pain-free function and activity. Pre-hab or pre-surgical care has been proven to be highly effective at reducing the time of healing.
Sports Injury Rehabilitation and Prevention – Post injury care including physical therapy is recommended by most physicians in order to return to full pain-free function and activity. Pre-hab or pre-surgical care has been proven highly effective at reducing the time of healing and post-surgical care is shortened and significantly more efficient.
General Injury Rehabilitation and Prevention – Post injury care including physical therapy is recommended by most physicians in order to return to full pain-free function and activity
Specific Treatment and Training for the Aging Athlete – 60 is the new 40! More than ever individuals are aging but expect to maintain the same active lifestyle they did in the past. Unfortunately, aging brings an inevitable decline in physical capability, even for the fit of us. No matter how healthy, you may need some assistance in maximizing your potential and longevity. We are here to help.
Spine/Lumbar Core Stabilization Programs – Stability benefits everyone, older people, weekend warriors to professional athletes. Our staff is well versed in core stabilization exercises, along with flexibility, strength, and aerobic training for a well-rounded, effective treatment program.
Postural Correction – Physical Therapists are highly trained to observe resting posture, and not only use it as a diagnostic tool, but also to correct muscular imbalances that may treat the problem or prevent a future problem from occurring.
Osteoporosis Prevention and Treatment – Osteoporosis is an incredibly common pathology that has increased significantly in incidence in recent years. Physical Therapy can help maintain bone mineral density through safe and effective exercise, as well as prevent fall occurrences
Spine/Lumbar Core Stabilization Programs – The “core” consists of several muscles groups, including the abdominals and back that help to stabilize the length of the spine and pelvis. This stabilization is important to provide a strong foundation for the upper and lower extremities to be able to move and produce force. Additionally, core stability is essential for maintaining a healthy back. Core stabilization program will train patients to only activate these stabilization muscles, but also to use these muscles in functional and athletic activities.
